GTD or "Getting Things Done"

The information that Allen provides is useful in many aspects of life. From work to your normal home life, the different steps from having a set in stone workflow aspect to the different level of focus can impact our lives in many ways.

I've always walked around with set of instructions in my mind that I need to do. Most people do also have these set instructions. I'm sure most of us have a morning routine. Wake up, take a shower, brush our teeth, eat breakfast and then it diversifies from there. This is in our mind of things needed to be done for us to feel good when going to work or for doing hobbies.

We can use these aspects in our organizational skills at work.

I've gone online and looked over google's calendar system. From reading Allen's tickler file system I've gone ahead and implemented that aspect into my life. I've had trouble keeping a notebook planner because it get's pushed to the side when I do any work or when I'd get home.

With it being online I can access it easier and be more redundant with my information. I can always have the notebook planner with the same information in it in case the internet goes down. It's what I've been needing to keep me from forgetting the different tasks needed to be done throughout the month.

I can use all these steps for my college classes also and will definitely be using the calendar to keep myself organized at all times.

I'm really grateful into reading the system as it has put alot of my flaws in the open (organization) and made it simply easy to fix.

Week 10 #23 Farewell

I think therefor I am.

I guess he thought of hunger and they say you are what you eat.

Errr..or something like that.

Well it's over and none to sooner, phew!

Joking, joking but I do have to say it was fun. It was really enlightening and even gave me a computer geek a surprise that there is alot more out there than what I know.

I have come away using pretty much everything on this training. From the LOLCAT maker to the Slideshow to th Overdrive feature.

Rock on!

Week 9 #22

Downloadable media.

We've all downloaded media before. From downloading music, files, videos to downloading webpages.

Some sites you visit are free some other sites ask you to pay for content. Most music sites ask you to buy music for a flat fee. 99 cents or $1.29 depending on the bit rate.

But what if all the music was free. What if books where like that also. Instead of buying books you could download them and read them on your e-book or listen to them on a cd/thumb drive/computer.

You can grab a MP3 player like an Ipod or creative Zen/Zune and take it with you on the go. It works great with long travel and working out.

Looking at the different sites that allow free downloadable books compared to us. As their website functions different from us but have the same concept. Some of the differences of course are the way the layout and search function. But other difference have to do with the checkout time and the media.

I do like our Overdrive system but that's because I'm more familiar with it. I will be trying out the other two sites more and see which one I prefer.

Podcast Smodcast

That'd be kind of cool if they had smodcasts :o

Back ladies and gentlement from my vacation. Vacation as in.. I was away for a day at work and came back to find more work piled on my desk. Well to pass the time I decided to listen to some podcasts.

Yes a podcast! The type that land on earth, take peoples bodies and replicate themselves!

Yeah outlandish story but it definitely scared ya!

Ok Podcast. Podcast are basically streaming sound over the internet. We're used to that with music streamingand video streaming. But since it doesn't have music but it's more like a radio show.

Well we call that podcast! People log on each day to listen to their favorite podcast while doing work online. It's a pretty cool feature since if your boss walks in you won't get in trouble for reading your favorite article. Instead you listen to them.

You can also add podcast RSS to your browser or RSS readers. It makes it easy to listen to them with one click then by searching them.

It's great and adds alot of versatility to the internet.

Go online and type in "Google.com" in your browser. Type in your favorite tech, news website to find different podcasts. Listen and enjoy.
